When workers vote to form a union, they often have to wait over a year before actually getting a contract with their employer. This bill tries to speed that up. Right now, the average wait is about 465 days—and employers can use that time to wear down the union and get better deals for themselves. This bill says that's unfair and needs to change.

Here's what the bill does: Once a union is officially recognized, the employer has to start negotiating within 10 days. If they can't reach a deal within 90 days, they go to a federal mediator who tries to help them agree for another 30 days. If that doesn't work, the case goes to an arbitrator—a neutral third party who listens to both sides and makes a binding decision that lasts for 2 years. When the arbitrator decides, they have to consider things like the company's finances, what workers need to live on, and what similar companies pay their workers.

The bill also requires employers to keep paying workers their current wages and benefits while negotiations are happening, so workers don't suffer financially during the process. The goal is simple: get workers their first union contract faster, so they can actually start enjoying the benefits they voted for, rather than getting stuck in endless negotiations.
