This is a Senate resolution honoring the one-year anniversary of the devastating 2025 Southern California wildfires that struck Los Angeles County and surrounding areas on January 7, 2025. The fires, driven by extreme Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, burned nearly 60,000 acres, killed 31 people, destroyed over 16,000 structures, and displaced more than 200,000 residents. The two largest fires—the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire—together burned 37,000 acres and caused some of the costliest damage from a natural disaster in U.S. history.
