Here's what the bill actually does: It gives the U.S. government permission to contribute money to DAC and have an official representative sit on its leadership council and board. However, there's an important limit built in—the U.S. can't contribute more than one-third of DAC's total funding. This requirement ensures that other countries and private organizations also step up and share the financial burden. The bill also requires the President to report to Congress annually about how much money the U.S. is contributing, how it's participating in DAC's decisions, and whether this partnership is actually helping American efforts to fight Alzheimer's and dementia at home and abroad.
