The Veterans Homecare Choice Act of 2025 expands the types of healthcare providers that veterans can use through the VA's Community Care Program. Specifically, it adds nurse registries to the list of eligible providers. A nurse registry is basically a company or organization that hires and manages nurses and home health workers—including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, home health aides, and companions—and arranges for them to provide care to patients in their homes. By including nurse registries in this program, veterans will have more options for getting home-based care through the VA, rather than being limited to traditional VA facilities or a narrower set of providers. This gives veterans greater flexibility in choosing how and where they receive nursing care and assistance with daily living activities, while still having the VA help cover the costs through their existing community care benefits.

Veterans Homecare Choice Act of 2025This bill includes any nurse registry as an eligible health care provider under the Veterans Community Care Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under the bill, a nurse registry is a person who satisfies applicable state licensure requirements and procures, or attempts to procure, contracts or agreements on behalf of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, companions, or homemakers under which such individuals may furnish health care-related or assistive services and receive compensation.
