# Understanding the Expanding Access to Family Planning Act

This bill would pump significant federal money into family planning clinics across the country over the next decade. Specifically, it would provide $512 million per year from 2026 through 2035 to support clinics that offer family planning services, plus an additional $50 million per year for building and renovating clinic facilities. That's a substantial investment aimed at making sure these clinics have the resources they need to serve patients.

The bill also includes rules about how this money can be used. Most importantly, it says that clinics receiving this funding cannot exclude other organizations from participating in their programs just because they disagree with them—they can only exclude organizations that genuinely can't provide the services. Additionally, the bill requires that when patients get a positive pregnancy test, they must be offered neutral, factual information about all their options: prenatal care and delivery, adoption and foster care, or pregnancy termination. The counseling has to be nondirective, meaning the clinic staff shouldn't steer patients toward any particular choice.
