This bill creates a new federal grant program to help young people ages 6-18 get ready for work through after-school and summer programs. The government will give grants to large youth organizations that have chapters in at least 35 states, allowing them to run workforce readiness programs in their communities.

The programs funded by these grants will offer teenagers (ages 15 and up) real work experience through paid jobs, internships, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training, combined with classroom learning in fields that employers actually need workers for. Younger kids (ages 6-14) will get activities like leadership development, career exploration, mentoring, and skills training to prepare them for future work. All programs will include support services like counseling, financial literacy classes, and help with the transition to college or further training.

To receive grants, organizations must show they'll serve youth fairly across different areas (cities and rural communities alike), work with local schools and employers, and track whether young people are actually succeeding—through better school attendance, improved grades, and job readiness. The bill also creates youth councils in each local workforce area to make sure young people's voices are heard in planning these programs. The government will spend up to $100 million per year from 2026 through 2030 on this initiative.
