The bill emphasizes listening to the voices and experiences of pregnant and postpartum people, especially those from communities hit hardest by maternal mortality and complications. It also highlights the importance of looking at non-medical factors—like poverty, violence, racism, and lack of insurance—that contribute to poor maternal health outcomes.
