# What This Bill Does

This bill changes how the U.S. government displays its branding on foreign aid. Right now, when the United States sends aid to other countries—whether it's food, medical supplies, disaster relief, or development projects—the government can choose to display the U.S. flag, other countries' flags, or logos from international organizations on those items. This bill would require that only the U.S. flag be displayed on American foreign assistance, with very limited exceptions.

The practical effect is that any aid package, shipment, or project funded by the U.S. would need to clearly show the American flag as the sole identifier. If the aid is being delivered through a partnership with another country or international organization, their logos or flags would no longer be allowed on the materials. For example, if the U.S. sends medical supplies to help with a disaster in another country, those supplies would need to display only the American flag, not the flag of the country receiving the aid or any international health organization involved in the distribution.

There's one narrow exception built into the bill: the President could allow other countries' flags or logos to appear alongside the U.S. flag, but only if the President decides it's necessary for national security reasons. If the President makes this exception, they would have to explain their decision to Congress in writing within 30 days. This means Congress would have the opportunity to review and potentially challenge any decision to share branding credit with other nations or organizations.

The bill's supporters likely believe this ensures Americans know their tax dollars are being used to help other countries, while critics might argue it could complicate partnerships with other nations and international organizations that also contribute to these aid efforts.
