Right now, there's no formal requirement for these regular check-ins, so this bill creates a new rule that the SEC Chairman must appear before two key Congressional committees every six months to explain the Commission's activities, decisions, and priorities.

The practical effect is straightforward: Congress gets more regular updates about how the SEC is operating. The SEC oversees everything from stock trading to investment fraud, so these hearings would give lawmakers a chance to ask questions about enforcement actions, new regulations, and whether the agency is adequately protecting everyday investors. At least once a year, other SEC Commissioners would also be required to join the Chairman in these testimonies, bringing more perspectives to the conversation.
