# What the National Commission to Combat Workplace Sexual Harassment Act Does

This bill creates a temporary government commission to investigate and study sexual harassment in American workplaces. The commission will be made up of 11 members appointed by congressional leaders and the President, with a requirement that at least six be women. The commission has 18 months from when the bill becomes law to complete its investigation and submit a detailed report to Congress with findings and recommendations. During that time, they'll examine important questions like whether certain groups of workers (based on race, gender, age, income, or job type) face higher risks of harassment, how social media has affected workplace misconduct, why people often don't report harassment even though laws exist against it, and whether current reporting systems actually work.

The commission members will serve without pay but will have their travel expenses covered. They'll have access to government documents and data, office space, and can hire staff to help with their work. Once they submit their final report to Congress and hold a hearing about it, the commission will shut down 60 days later. Essentially, this bill creates a temporary investigative body designed to give Congress a comprehensive picture of workplace sexual harassment in America and recommendations for how to address it more effectively.
