# Plain Language Summary: Atrocity Accountability Act

If the Defense Secretary decides we should stop or reduce military assistance to any of these countries based on this review, they have to notify Congress—specifically the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs committees in both the House and Senate.

In practical terms, this bill adds a safety check to how America distributes military aid around the world. It doesn't automatically cut off assistance to any country, but it does require the Pentagon to pause and think about the consequences before arming nations where there's a documented risk of abuse. It also makes sure Congress knows about any decisions to change military assistance, keeping lawmakers informed about these important foreign policy choices.
