# Weather Data Taxpayer Protection Act: What It Actually Does

This bill creates a new government commission to check the quality of weather and disaster risk information that the federal government buys from private companies. Their main job is to create standards for testing weather models and data, then evaluate private sector products against those standards. Within two years, federal agencies will be required to stop using any weather risk data or models that don't meet these new standards.
