# What This Bill Does

This bill expands a national historical park in Vermont called Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller to include more land and establishes a new educational institute at the park. The park, located in Woodstock, Vermont, preserves the historic mansion and surrounding property of the Marsh, Billings, and Rockefeller families, who were important figures in American conservation history.

The main change is that the park's boundaries are being redrawn to include additional land, including the King Farm and the Billings Farm and Museum. The bill creates two zones within the expanded park: a historic zone that includes the mansion and Mt. Tom, and a protection zone that includes the Billings Farm and Museum. The King Farm will be split between these two zones. The government can acquire this additional land through donations, purchases from willing sellers, transfers from other federal agencies, or land exchanges. Importantly, the King Farm can continue to be used for farming and forestry operations, as well as for educational programs about agriculture and conservation, so it won't necessarily stop being a working farm.

The bill also establishes something called the National Park Service Stewardship Institute at the park. This institute will run workshops, educational programs, and research initiatives focused on teaching people about land stewardship and conservation practices. It's designed to help the National Park Service share knowledge about how to care for land and natural resources, and to bring together different organizations and communities working on conservation efforts.

For most people, this bill won't have a direct impact on their daily lives.
