The resolution particularly highlights CRNAs' critical role in rural America, where they are often the primary anesthesia providers, allowing smaller hospitals and clinics to offer surgical and obstetrical services that would otherwise be unavailable to underserved communities. CRNAs work in diverse settings including hospitals, surgical centers, dental offices, military facilities, and Veterans Affairs medical centers. The resolution encourages patients, hospital administrators, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to recognize and fully utilize CRNAs' expertise and skills. It was introduced in January 2026 to coincide with National CRNA Week, which celebrates the nation's approximately 69,000 certified nurse anesthetists and those in training.
