# Sexual Abuse Services in Detention Act

This bill requires prisons, jails, and other detention facilities to provide services and support to people who have experienced sexual abuse while in custody. Right now, there's no federal requirement that these facilities must offer counseling, medical care, or other help to victims of sexual assault that happens behind bars—even though sexual abuse in detention is a serious problem affecting thousands of incarcerated people every year.

Sexual Abuse Services in Detention Act This bill authorizes the Office for Victims of Crime within the Department of Justice (DOJ) to award grants for providing emotional support services in corrections settings for incarcerated survivors and victims of sexual abuse. The bill also directs DOJ to establish a national resource center to provide guidance, training, and information to support the delivery of emotional support services in correctional or detention settings.
